Jobs for 15 year olds are sometimes hard to find, especially in today's economy. It is harder to find a job, any kind of job, than ever before. Unfortunately, 15 year
olds are going to be affected by this slow job market too and many of you may be thinking about what you are going to do this summer.
This is a good
opportunity for some enterprising 15 year
olds to create their own job. In other words, if you can't find a job, go out and make your own. This will entail trying to figure out where there is some need and how you can fill it. For instance, there is always a need for babysitters and babysitting jobs have forever been a favorite of 15 and 16 year
olds. So, are there other areas where you have a talent and maybe can find a way to get paid for it?
Lets look at some of the job ideas you may be able to come up with and make some extra money with:
A backyard maintenance business: do you have neighbors who have gardens that need weeding or grass that needs to be cut? You can go door to door in your whole neighborhood and try to find people who need leaves raked, plants planted, shrubs trimmed and other such yard maintenance done. Once you get a few of your neighbors on board, there is a good chance word will spread if you do a good job.
A pet-sitting business: People are always going away on vacation or taking small trips and need their pets fed and looked after. If you start a pet sitting or walking service you might be able to find a whole bunch of people who need help with their pets. You might also offer to wash the pets too for an added charge and if you are someone who likes dogs and cats, this is the perfect job idea for you.
A computer tutor business: If you are a whiz with computers, and many teens are, you might offer your services to your neighbors to help them with their computer questions and problems. Many adults have lots of trouble setting computers up, dealing with error messages, and generally anything to do with computers. If you know how to put web sites up you might also be able to charge them to get their own web sites started and/or to help them with all their computer questions.
A cleaning business: Many homes today are looking for maids and if you are good and experienced in cleaning, you might offer your services. With both parents working in many households, there is little time for cleaning and if you are responsible, cleaning houses could be one of the good
jobs for 15 year olds that you never thought of.
A painting business: In the summer time there are many people who want to have their houses painted. If you have experience in that area, this is a job you and your friends can do together that can make you some great money. During the winter months you can do indoor painting if you have the customers.
A tutuoring business: If you are good at math, playing the piano, or know a foreign language, there might be a need for your knowledge. You might scour the neighborhood looking for people who want to be tutored and often you will find other kids who need help in your area of expertise. The better teacher you are, the more word will spread and the more business you will get.
These are just some of the
job ideas for 15 year olds that you can experiment with. Again, because of today's economy, now is the time to start creating your own job rather than trying to find one. Go out there, find a need, and then figure out a way to fill it. Not only will you be able to get the satisfaction of making some of your own spending money but you will also be learning how to do business with people and that will benefit you later in life.
